Attendance in Your Online Classes

Just because your class is online, doesn’t mean you don’t have to attend.

Just like a traditional school has an attendance policy and it is monitored based on being present in class, Pinnacle also has an attendance policy.  The great thing about Pinnacle is the flexibility of being able to work in your online classes whenever you want!  But, don’t forget, you still have to WORK, which means still have to ATTEND class.  Let’s review Pinnacle’s attendance policy.

For at least 5 days a week, you should be working in each of your classes for at least 3 hours per course, per day (For Summer School 5-6 hours per course per day). Typically, in order to stay on pace to complete the class in the allotted 6 weeks, you will have to put in additional hours.  For a full load of four classes, this means that you should work at least a total of 25 hours a week in all of your online classes.  This 25 hours a week is time that is recorded manually, by you, and submit in the Timesheet that pops up when you enter.  The time you submit needs to be a combination of Online time and Offline time.  Offline time is time that you spend doing anything related to school work, but is not spent actually inside the online course page.

Examples of offline time include: Talking to an instructor or counselor, tutoring, doing a science lab, reading a book, taking notes, studying, etc.  The combination of your online and offline time a week, in all four classes, should equal at least 25 hours a week.

BOTTOM LINE:  Attendance is very important, even at an online school.  Please check with your Virtual Guidance Counselor if you are concerned that you are not meeting the school’s attendance policy.  Don’t forget, at least 25 hours a week in your school work is a MUST!

If you are not logging in and using your timesheet to accuratly report the time you are spending in your courses (0 hours and 0 minutes will count as an absence!) you will be withdrawn. Ten consecutive school days of not logging in, not entering time or entering 0's on the timesheet will result in a withdraw due to lack of attendnace.
